Welcome to Country Fusion!
Hi everyone and welcome to Adam Price’s – Country Fusion website.
I initially come up with this idea earlier in 2010, but then I became ill with leukemia on July 7th, 2010 and didn’t do anything about it until I was feeling better and had been treated.
Well it’s now October 22nd, 2010 and I am able to do something about it, I’ve created the official Country Fusion website / blog…

And on February 19th, 2011 I released my two new singles Faith, Hope & Love (which was the idea of well known country music singer Gina Jeffreys which we co-wrote the song together with her husband Rod McCormack and Mel Sommers). And the song Words & Flowers was written by my good friend Mel Sommers and produced by Rod McCormack, have a listen to what they mean to me below.
Then if you like what you hear, by all means please support me and my cause to help the thousands out there who have Leukemia by purchasing my album “Paint You a Song”, which has both of these songs on them as well as 10 others.
Faith, Hope & Love
You might be wondering what “Country Fusion” is and how I come up with the name?
I got into singing later in life when I was 32 years old, and I did a lot of different songs and didn’t even really know I could sing until about 4 years ago, when I placed in a couple of major competitions out of many contestants. It wasn’t until I read a comment by a judge that she thought I had some very nice country undertones in my singing, even when I sang non-country songs.
At this point I thought, what if I was to take other beautiful songs (and there are so many of them) and the ones that lend themselves to being what I call “Countrified”, and sing them in my own style.
The problem was back then I didn’t even know what my main style of singing was, but all along it must have been country (as I’ve always loved country, right from a little fella).
It was about 2 years ago, I decided to go completely country and yes, still sing songs that aren’t country (well the ones I enjoy anyway) but do them in my own way.
That’s is how Country Fusion was born!
The Country Fusion concept still has some development to go, but I’ll be creating some pretty kewl videos and songs and posting them up here shortly so stay tuned.
As the next months progress, country fusion will develop further and has a range of country music interests to write about from my experiences and travels in my country music journey.
To stay up to date with direct email posts of what’s happening with Country Fusion and to share them with your friends and other country music lovers, please subscribe to our mail out list at the top left of this page.

Please stay tuned for more interviews coming up, I’ll try and get the one we just did with radio 94.1FM which is a Central Coast Australia station for you to listen to also, that’s been pre-recorded as of the 11th of January 2012 and will be aired early in February.
I’m Lovin My New Uke!
I Just Got a Samick UK70B Baritone Ukelele
It’s so very simple to play and very similar to a guitar, except it has only 4 strings (which I’m cheerin about), my ukelele model is the Samick UK70B Baritone Ukelele.
To play a baritone ukelele is very simple, if you know standard guitar chords, you’re away in no time, unlike the smaller ukelele’s, which I did purchase but they were just too small for me to hold onto, and the chords are different but they’re easy to play also.
So maybe at my next show, I’ll be playing a few Ukelele songs to change the mood and add some really nice sounds as well.
I’ve been learning more and more musical instruments lately, and any of you who already know me, know that I’ve only been playing guitar for a couple of years, but now I’m bringing the mandolin, keyboard, accoustic bass and ukelele into the mix, so overall my shows will have more variety and that’s what I want to offer you.
Anyway, this is just a short post as I was excited about my new acquisition, so back to practice for me and hopefully I’ll see you on the streets of Tamworth at the country music festival.
The Release of Homestead of My Dreams!
Adam Price – CD Launch – Sings Homestead of My Dreams
Here’s one of Adam Price’s latest videos, Homestead of My Dreams, which was released on the 27th of November 2011.
The song Homestead of My Dreams is a song that Adam has really enjoyed singing in the past and found that thousands of others all over the world have loved his version of this “Smoky Dawson” classic.
Smoky Dawson wrote Homestead of My Dreams later in life and there is even another version of it by him in YouTube in an earlier post I’ve included here, when I did the song acoustically.
But what you here in this version of the song is a fully produced, professionally recorded version by the one and only Rod McCormack who is one of the leading singer / songwriter / producers in Australia (and Gina Jeffreys husband) and as Rod had played with Smoky back when he was alive, he looked up a few versions of Homestead of My Dreams and created a whole new version of the song which is absolutely superb and I’m very grateful for his wonderful help and expertise in being able to capture the rawness of my voice and the story of the song so beautifully.

If you’re not already a subscriber to my website www.AdamPrice.com.au then, I would suggest you swing on over there and add your details and you’ll be pleasantly surprised at what little bonus you can download afterwards, especially if you like Homestead of My Dreams, wink, wink
Brindabree – Another Original Song by Adam Price
The Story Behind Brindabree!
Brindabree is an original song written by Mel Sommers, a local country music song writer here in Newcastle and very good friend of mine. He writes a lot of songs and you’ll notice there’s a lot of songs by him on my new album “Paint You a Song” because I simply love his writing.
Brindabree is no different and on asking Mel what his inspiration was in writing this song, was just the stories of his past and childhood, he thought not many had ever told the story of the Gold Towns which are now pretty much dead in Australia.
The wind you hear as the video opens in Brindabree, originally had a dialogue to it, which said “In the 1800′s many towns grew with the discovery of gold, when the gold dried up many become ghost towns, all that was left were ruins of a bygone day… Once such place was Brindabree”, which I think is a wonderful opening to this song, however on the CD this isn’t recorded (but I do add it in, when I play this song accoustically).
Here’ the video on my album launch night of Brindabree
A little more about Brindabree
You can get your hands on Brindabree as a single or the whole “Paint You a Song” album in digital download by clicking right here, and I truly appreciate your support in purchasing either the song itself or the whole album.
As you may know realize, it’s my aim to sell a lot of albums online worldwide so I can donate a percentage of the proceeds to the Leukaemia Foundation and the Calvary Mater Hopsital Heamatology Ward, as I donate a percentage from ALL sales I make from all my online sources of CD’s, others songs from my Country Music Store, my merchandise shop, as well as my local shows I put on around Newcastle.
I do hope you enjoy my songs and Brindabree in particular as it’s one of my favourites!
Adam Price – Lets Be Lovers While We Can
Lets Be Lovers While We Can by Adam Price
Well it has been a busy time for me, singing more and more gigs and excitedely been uploading all my new videos from my new album launch, where I sold a record amount of CD’s well over 100 CD’s were sold at the launch and I was very happy that everyone enjoyed themselves.
Below is video of an original song called “Lets Be Lovers While We Can” which was written by the legendary country music writer Mel Sommers, who has helped me no end with this launch and ongoingly with my music, I hope you like it…
Lets Be Lovers While We Can
More About “Lets Be Lovers While We Can”…
I had performed “Lets Be Lovers While We Can” live many times before we recorded it and it always seemed to go down really well with audiences, so we decided to put it on the CD.
It brings me great pleasure when people who hear it on the radio Australia wide, or orders for this come in via my websites, because it allows me to help support the Leukaemia Foundation and The Newcastle Calvary Mater Hospital Heamatology Ward.
It’s my goal to create record sales faster than any independent artist in a very short span of time and it certainly seems like that is happening, my goal of getting my album and songs heard and supporting my causes which helped save my life is becoming a reality.
I will keep posting more videos of the launch over the coming days and I would love to thank all the 100′s of people who have ordered my CD’s online and at my charity shows and events in the past couple of weeks :-)

Under Your Spell – Adam’s Latest Hit Single!
Adam Price’s Latest Hit Single – Under Your Spell
Hi all, I would like to thank the hundreds of people who turned up for my launch last Sunday the 27th of November, a great night was had by all and of course I launched my latest hit single “Under Your Spell”, here it is below…
Under Your Spell Has Been Great For My Cause
We raised a great amount for the Newcastle Heamatology Ward and also the Leukaemia Foundation, which I’m absolutely passionate about helping since they saved my life back in 2010 from AML (Acute Myloid Leukaemia).
Online and Offline sales of my new CD “Paint You a Song’ since then have been great and my cause to load as much as I can for these wonderful organizations are being realized, thanks to everyone who has supported my shows and music, with international sales beginning this week.
A Warm Thank You For Liking My Album & Under Your Spell
I thank everyone who has created this amazing flurry of sales to support my cause and of course enjoying my songs at the same time, it means so much to me, thank you, thank you, thank you for making my dreams a reality.
Please take a look at my intro video from the launch night if you haven’t already right here.
Since the launch there has been quite a number of radio stations playing Under Your Spell and my songs and I really am thankful for their support, as it really helps and I call each and everyone of them my good friends.
I had some very nice support from Radio 1629AM personalities Mike Kennedy, Ian Crombie and Ray Waite who are all my very good friends as well and they all have mentioned how they like the liveliness of Under Your Spell, which the concept of the song I dreamed up one morning and wondered if it would ever be produced (and now it is really being played on air and people are liking it, I feel so blessed).
In the photo to the left… Mike Kennedy presenting me with a very big surprise plaque from 1629, for the album launch of Paint You a Song, it was an amazing surprise for me when he did this.
I hope you enjoy Under Your Spell till the next video I bring out, which was another live video from the launch night.
My New Album – Paint You a Song – CD Release!
My New Album “Paint You a Song” is Finally Ready!
After many months of recording, writing songs, editing, photo’s and travelling from Newcastle to Central Coast to Sydney my first album is ready… PPHhheewwww!
I will be debuting my album release at the Five Islands Recreation Club and will be sharing the stage with Newcastle based country music well known singer / songwriter Mel Sommers as well as another great friend of mine and a country duo show colleague Wayne Metcalf.
Here’s a little video I did on the eve of the launch…
I had a lot of fun making the album with Rod McCormack doing most of the musical directing and even had famous pedal steel players from Nasheville who back the likes of Brad Paisley and other well know artists in the states, Rod truly went all out on this album to make it sound fantastic, I was really chuffed at what he produced.
Here’s a few of the cover shots that were taken and a little information on the songs themselves which I’ve included on the inside cover of the album.
Paint You a Song CD Shots
The following shots are the back cover with all the songs…

The next cover is the inside cover which has a little bit of information in it about the songs and how they come about… It also explains about how I’ve decided to donate a percentage of all my sales online and offline, as well as live show proceeds to the Leukaemia Foundation and the Mater Hospital Heamatology Unit in Newcastle as without them I never would have been able to survive.

Here’s what the inside cover of Paint You a Song says…
Hello and Welcome,
I sincerely hope you enjoy the songs on this very first album of mine. There’s a lot of very special songs on this album and some fun songs that I co-wrote, being Under Your Spell and Something About You which the tune come to me in a dream one night.
Faith, Hope & Love was my very first single that I released in February 2011, with the help of Gina Jeffrey’s and Rod McCormack who wrote and produced for me, right after I got out of hospital successfully beating Leukaemia in 2010, I truly hope it touches your heart, or the heart of someone who may need to hear those words.
The other songs which are a mix of songs written by Mel Sommers, who has been a fantastic friend and mentor to me, since I started a couple of years ago. Mel is also a fantastic song writer who often finds me wanting to sing new songs he comes up with.
Then there’s the 2 tribute songs to Smokey Dawson, Homestead of My Dreams and of course Paint You a Song which I recorded because my mum loves the song so much, and I certainly hope you love it as much as she does.
The song “Broken Bridges” written by Maree Stacey is a song I fell in love with the first time I heard it, she has so much talent and I hope to be singing more of her songs on future albums and at my shows.
Finally I would like to thank all of you who have purchased this CD as a percentage of the sales go to the Leukaemia Foundation and the Calvary Mater Hospital Haematology Ward.
Please be sure to visit my website www.AdamPrice.com.au and subscribe to my newsletter there, so we can stay in touch!

Ghost In This House – Backyard Country Video No.6
Ghost In This House – Backyard Video No.6
I decided to do this new Backyard Country video, which is the sixth video in this new series of videos and I really enjoyed creating this because I really love Alison Krauss and Shenandoah who also do this song, I really enjoy both of their versions and have blended the both to make my own little version of it.
You can get a hold of Ghost In This House, both versions of it by Alison Krauss and Shenandoah at my Amazon country music store online (if you like this song and are thinking of purchasing it, I do ask if you could consider purchasing through my store as I’m an affiliate of Amazon and it gives me a bit of pocket money to keep the site running and also helps our wonderful country artists both here in Australia and overseas)!
Below is Alison Krauss’s version of Ghost In This House…
It’s haunting and very beautiful, and it brings goosebumps to me every time I listen to it, she’s simply beautiful and her voice is “Hauntingly Stunning”!…
Here is Shenandoah’s version of Ghost In This House
Notice how their version is more upbeat but still very kewl none the less…
And finally, my version of Ghost In This House
Which I have aimed at being a little bit like both, the male energy of Shenandoah, but the haunting large notes of Alison Krauss… I do hope you like it, here it is…
Here’s the Lyrics for the song…
I don’t pick up the mail
I don’t pick up the phone
I don’t answer the door
I’d just as soon be alone
I don’t keep this place up
I just keep the lights down
I don’t live in these rooms
I just rattle around
I’m just a ghost in this house
I’m just a shadow upon these walls
As quietly as a mouse I haunt these halls
I’m just a whisper of smoke
I’m all that’s left of two hearts on fire
That once burned out of control
You took my body and soul
I’m just a ghost in this house
I don’t care if it rains
I don’t care if it’s clear
I don’t mind staying in
There’s another ghost here
He sits down in your chair
And he shines with your light
And he lays down his head
On your pillow at night
I’m just a ghost in this house
I’m just a shadow upon these walls
I’m living proof of the damage
Heartbreak does
I’m just a whisper of smoke
I’m all that’s left of two hearts on fire
That once burned out of control
And took my body and soul
I’m just a ghost in this house
Oh, I’m just a ghost in this house
There you have it, Ghost In This House, done in my backyard for yet another week of FUNtastic country music which I truly enjoy and I hope you enjoyed it also and if you missed my last Backyard Country Video post which was a George Strait song called Last In Love just click the link and watch it also!
New Backyard Country Song – Last In Love (George Strait)
This Weeks Backyard Country Song – Last In Love by George Strait
George Strait and his song Last In Love is one of the greatest singers in the world when it comes to country music. He’s had more hit singles than most modern country singers put together, and his reputation exudes him.
His DVD “Pure Country” is a rare movie that he stars in and some of the music that he sings in it is simply brilliant. I have chosen in this weeks backyard country to sing “Last In Love” which is a song that is both big in it’s notes and beautiful in it’s words, I loved it the minute I heard it a couple of years ago.
I’ve posted the video by George Strait – Last In Love below which is my version of it, then I’ll also post the original version of him singing it at the end of this post, I do hope you like my version of it.
Here it is, my version of Last In Love – George Strait
These videos take me a good few hours to create and, my little fluffy terrier “Lilly” always loves to help me with them, she’s been adopted by my family from a small country town by the name of Baradine, because the people who owned her couldn’t have her at the time, they loved country music and so this little dog loves it also, it’s really funny, every time I setup my music to practice brackets and guitar she comes running downstairs to listen.
Anyway, here is George Strait in Pure Country singing Last In Love…
Here are the lyrics of Last In Love
Blue’s out side my door,
I don’t even know if it’s raining.
But I’ve been here before,
and I don’t want to be here again.
Every now and then, voices on the wind,
call me back to the first time.
Far away and clear, you can hear the teardrops,
falling for the last in love.
.
If I let you down,
all I can say is I’m sorry.
Now it’s all over town,
and I don’t want to hear it from you.
Please don’t look away, it’s hard enough to say,
this could go on forever.
When the night is clear, I can hear the teardrops,
falling for the last in love.
Every now and then, voices on the wind,
I may love you always, and always
Far away and clear, you can hear the teardrops,
falling for the last in love.
Calling for the last in love.
Will we always be the last in love?
I will be singing more George Strait songs in future backyard country videos, here’s the last backyard country song I did last week, Paint You a Song by Smoky Dawson. The song Last In Love is the first George Strait song I’ve done with the Backyard Country, but it certainly won’t be the last, see you next week!
Backyard Country Video – Paint You a Song (Originally by Smoky Dawson)
This Week’s Backyard Country Video – Paint You a Song (Originally by Smoky Dawson)
Following on from the series of Smoky Dawson, backyard county videos, this week I decided to do a song that is pretty rare, called “Paint You a Song”, last weeks video was Homestead of My Dreams which you can click on if you wish to see that.
Old Smoky did an acoustic version of this, which was just a solo of himself (and not the duet you see below with Jean Staford, which is indeed a beautiful rendition, but the acoustic version I have never heard since some 15 years ago, so have decided to bring it back to life in my new album and am naming the album, you guessed it “Paint You a Song”, which will be launched on November 27th, 2011.
Paint You a Song – Smoky Dawson & Jean Stafford
My Rendition of Smoky Dawson’s – Paint You a Song
I’ve particularly liked Smoky Dawson’s songs for quite a while and being one of the greats of Australian Country Bush Ballads, he’s helped mold country music into what it is today.
There has been few song writers equaling his talent and skill, but among them have been Reg Lindsay and our very own Slim Dusty who sold some 17 Million Albums across Australia during his 50 plus years of entertaining us, these are our heritage legends and I certainly look up to them, even though sadly, they’ve not been with us for some time now.
Well that’s about it for this week, I hope that you enjoy Smoky Dawson in his videos here, please share them with your friends and please, if you haven’t already connected with me in Facebook, please head over and like my page and connect with me at www.facebook.com/AdamPriceCountryMusic.
I’m really looking forward to releasing the new versions of Smoky Dawson’s songs which I’m recording in the studio of Rod McCormack, who if you’re not familiar is the husband of the great Gina Jeffreys. Rod used to play in the Smoky Dawson band and is an absolutely amazing musician, producer and singer too.
